Gearbox

A gearbox is a mechanical device that transfers energy from one device to another. It is used to change the speed (RPM) or the output torque of a motor. It is also known as gear reducer, speed reducers or gearhead.

It has applications across a wide range of industries. For example, a gearbox is used to offer loads in the power transmission industry. On the other hand, motion control or servo industry might use it for handling dynamic motion applications.

All types of gearboxes operate in a similar way. A pair of the identical intermeshing modules (tooth shape) transfers the power from the A-axis (delivery) to the Z-axis.A gearbox can provide reliable power transmission as you can monitor the speed ratio by adjusting the relative number of teeth.

Based on the shape and structure, the gearbox can be classified into several types such as spur, helical, manual, semi-automatic, variable speed, high-speed, worm, and planetary gearboxes.

Based on transmission ratio, speed, lubrication requirements, reliability, cost, and transmission efficiency, different gear structures have unique advantages and disadvantages.

What gearbox type we can offer? One simple list here: Worm gearbox, worm wheel gearbox, spur gearbox, plastic gearbox, helical gearbox, spiral bevel gearbox, in-line gearbox, miniature gearbox, planetary gearbox and custom gearbox.

How to Select the Right Gearbox

  • Confirm various structural and dynamic parameters such as the transmission structure size, quality, power, speed, efficiency, gear ratio, and load characteristics.
  • Check the performance specifications such as reliability, service life, noise, vibration, temperature, and transmission accuracy.
  • Pay close attention to the choice of material, gearbox technology, and generic interchangeability.
  • Make sure to choose gear products with low-cost but high efficiency, precision, and reliability.
