We are a custom gear motor supplier. A gear motor is a combination of an electric motor (AC, DC, stepper, servo) and a gear reducer (gearbox) integrated into a single unit. It increases torque while reducing the output speed of the motor. A geared electric motor, often simply called a gear motor or gearmotor, is a compact, integrated unit consisting of an electric motor directly coupled with a gearbox (or gearhead). The primary purpose of adding the gearbox is to modify the output characteristics of the motor, specifically to reduce the rotational speed and increase the output torque.

We can customize the gear motor for you according to your needs. There is always a motor that meets your needs. Contact us!

Advantages: High torque output; controlled and adjustable speed; compact and space-saving design; improved efficiency in power transmission; versatile and customizable for various applications.

We can offer AC gear motors, DC gear motors, stepper gear motors, and servo gear motors in a small-to-big size selection. Types of gearboxes used in gear motors: spur gearbox, planetary gearbox, worm gearbox, and helical gearbox. So, how to choose the suitable gear motors? Refer to the following selection criteria:

1. Torque Requirements: Determine the required torque for the application.

2. Speed Requirements: Choose a gear motor with the appropriate speed reduction ratio.

3. Motor Type: Select the motor type based on the power supply and control requirements.

4. Gearbox Type: Choose the gearbox type based on the application's torque, speed, and space constraints.

5. Mounting and Size: Ensure the gear motor fits within the available space and can be mounted properly.

Types of Gear Motors (based on Gearbox Design)

Spur Geared Motors:

Gears: Straight teeth, parallel shafts.

Characteristics: Simple design, cost-effective, and high efficiency in a single stage, but can be noisy at high speeds.

Applications: Consumer appliances, light-duty conveyors, toys.

Planetary Geared Motors:

Gears: Central "sun" gear, multiple "planet" gears orbiting around it, and an outer "ring" gear.

Characteristics: Very compact, high torque density, high efficiency, excellent shock resistance, good for high reduction ratios in a small space, low backlash.

Applications: Robotics, medical equipment, power tools, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), precise positioning systems.

Worm Geared Motors:

Gears: A screw-like "worm" meshes with a "worm wheel" (similar to a spur gear).

Characteristics: High reduction ratios in a single stage, compact right-angle output (90 degrees to motor shaft), very quiet operation, and a unique "self-locking" feature (the worm wheel cannot drive the worm), useful for holding loads. Lower efficiency than other types, especially at high ratios.

Applications: Conveyors, lifting equipment, gate openers, medical beds, hoists.

Helical Geared Motors:

Gears: Teeth are cut at an angle to the gear's axis.

Characteristics: Smoother and quieter operation than spur gears, higher load carrying capacity, more efficient than worm gears. Can be inline or parallel shaft.

Applications: Industrial machinery, pumps, fans, conveyors requiring high efficiency and quiet operation.

Bevel Geared Motors:

Gears: Conical shape, allowing power transmission between shafts that are at an angle (often 90 degrees).

Characteristics: Used for right-angle drives, can be straight or spiral (spiral bevels are smoother and quieter).

Applications: Mixers, printing presses, agricultural machinery.

Working principle of Gear Electric Motor

A gear motor integrates an electric motor with a gearbox (or gearhead) to modify its output characteristics. The electric motor, whether AC or DC, typically produces high rotational speed at relatively low torque. This high-speed rotation is then fed into the gearbox, which contains a carefully designed train of gears. Through the principle of mechanical advantage, these gears mesh and interact to effectively reduce the output rotational speed while simultaneously multiplying the output torque. This allows the gear motor to efficiently deliver the specific speed and torque required for applications that need to move heavy loads, operate at lower speeds, or achieve precise movements, all within a compact and often more cost-effective unit than a standalone motor and external gearing system.
